1. Best Drone For 2020 — DJI Mavic 2 Pro
Highlight: A high-tech drone that’s great for recreational and professional pilots alike. Powerful camera, obstacle avoidance, autonomous flight modes, tons of great accessories available to enhance your flights, and lots more.
Camera: 20MP / 4K | Flight Time: 31 mins | Range: 8 km | GPS: Yes
Pros: Long range. Crisp images and videos. Collision avoidance. One of the best flight times on the market. Autonomous flight modes for beautiful shots. Incredible portability for so much technology.
Cons: Noisier than preferred.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is the best drone for sale in 2020 for many reasons.
Its high-end camera captures 20-megapixels images with stunning clarity, crisp details, and beautiful color.
The drone comes with automatic, omnidirectional, collision-avoidance protection. It can also stay in the air for up to 31 minutes of flying time, and it can reach speeds of up to 44 mph.
The three-axis gimbal allows the camera to rotate freely and hold its position for accurate shots.
The Mavic 2 Pro comes with 8 MB of internal storage built in, and it can support up to 128 GB of extra storage.
It is also widely available in bundle packages (like the one pictured above) that provide all the accessories a pilot needs to enhance their flights.
To put the cherry on top, this camera drone is also extremely compact and easy to travel with.
My only gripe is that it is noisier than I would prefer, but I’ll take a bit more noise as a trade-off for all these incredible features.
There isn’t much more a pilot could want to have fun, take awesome shots, and enjoy piloting this machine.
2. Best For Traveling — DJI Mavic Air and Air 2
Highlight: These two models offer an impressive blend of affordability, size, portability, and technology. DJI launched the Mavic Air 2 in April 2020, and it is a powerhouse.
Mavic Air – Camera: 12MP / 4K | Flight Time: 21 mins | Range: 4 km | GPS: Yes
Mavic Air 2 – Camera: 48MP / 4K | Flight Time: 34 mins | Range: 18.5 km | GPS: Yes
Pros: Take amazing panoramic shots. Easy-to-use video editing software included. Flies by using the included remote controller or by an app using your smartphone. Long flight time. Good first drones.
Cons: Radio interference in urban areas can reduce range.
The original DJI Mavic Air launched in January 2018 and quickly became a favorite amongst many types of pilots.
It offers an excellent blend of affordability (under $1,000), portability (very easy to transport), and technology (great camera, flight time, range, and supporting features).
The original Mavic Air remains an excellent drone.
However, in April 2020, DJI launched the DJI Mavic Air 2. And WOW, is this drone a powerhouse.
Complete with a 48 megapixel camera that shoots 4K video, a whopping 34-minute flight time, and a super long 18.5 km control distance, this drone easily makes it one of the best drones of all time.
The camera can shoot video at 60 fps, making it great for hyperlapse videos (super slow motion). And it comes with a bunch of cool autonomous flight modes for tracking objects, orbiting, and much more.
And the Air 2 can fly up to speeds of 42 mph.
If you’re looking for a great combination of portability, affordability, and stunning aerial photos and videos, the Mavic Air series is worth considering.
3. Best For Beginners, Recreation, Selfies, Sharing, Portability — DJI Mavic Mini
Highlight: A personal favorite. This quadcopter folds down to almost the height and width of a smartphone. Super easy to transport, bust out some nice shots, and share them.
Camera: 12MP / 2.7K | Flight Time: 30 mins | Range: 4 km | GPS: Yes
Pros: Super compact. Under $500. Autonomous Quick Shot modes. 12MP still photos and 2.7K video. Weighs less than 250 grams. Smartphone control. Long flight time for such a small drone.
Cons: The app can sometimes drain phone battery too quick.
The DJI Mavic Mini is a personal favorite of mine. It allows all of us to carry a flying camera in our pockets.
The entire quad weighs less than 250 grams, which is a big contributing factor to its 30-minute flight time.
The Mavic Mini’s camera takes 12MP still photos and shoots beautiful video in 2.7K.
The Mini also comes with some great “Quick Shot” flight modes, including:
- Dronie (selfie mode)
- and Rocket
All you do is select the mode and the drone will do the rest.
You can also fly this drone using your smartphone with the DJI Fly app. This eliminates the need to carry around a bulky controller.
And to put the cherry on top, the Mavic Mini comes in at under $500.
My only gripe is that the DJI Fly app can be a drain on your phone’s battery, so a portable phone charger is recommended.
4. Best Zoom — DJI Mavic 2 Zoom
Highlight: One of the coolest drones on the market today, giving pilots tons of added creativity and flexibility with their shots.
Camera: 12MP to 48MP / 4K | Flight Time: 31 mins | Range: 8 km | GPS: Yes
Pros: Up to 4X optical zoom. Long range. Good for outdoors flying. Can take 12MP still photos to 48MP still photos. 360-degree panoramas. Obstacle avoidance. Long flight time.
Cons: Many of the Mavic 2 Zoom’s more unadvertised advanced features are in the manual. Make sure to read it.
The Mavic 2 Zoom is designed to give pilots added flexibility and creativity with their shots. This is making it more and more popular as time goes on.
Its magnificent camera comes with a 2X optical zoom camera and up to 4X zoom if the camera is set to 1080p.
The Zoom can also take 360-degree panoramas, and with “super resolution mode,” the quad can take high resolution 48 megapixel still photos.
With an 8km control distance, obstacle sensing, and a 31-minute flight time, you’ve got a drone that’s well set up to help pilots get the shots they want.
5. Best For Professionals — DJI Phantom 4 Pro (V2.0)
Camera: 20MP / 4K | Flight Time: 30 mins | Range: 8 km | GPS: Yes
Pros: Collision avoidance. GPS-assisted flight. Long flight time. Advanced camera. Lots of accessories available. Great online support community. Long control distance.
Cons: Bigger size, so if you’re going to travel with this drone a carrying case is recommended.
The DJI Phantom 4 Professional is a highly advanced drone.
Its camera takes 20 megapixel still photos, shoots video in 4K, and it has a 8 km range.
Its obstacle sensing and collision avoidance capability is great for keeping your investment safe. The drone will automatically return back to you while avoiding all obstacles on its own.
The Phantom 4’s flight time is a godsend for pro pilots, giving you ample time to get the shots you need. With some extra batteries, you’re in good shape to never run out of time.
However, we’ve been blessed with the Mavic’s portability, so in comparison the P4’s size makes it more difficult to transport. If you’re planning to travel with this drone, I strongly suggest buying a carrying case.
Overall, the Phantom 4 flies well, it comes with excellent autopilot capability, and it provides some of the most stable images and videos of any drone.
6. Best For Amateur Aerial Photography & Videography — DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Highlight: A sleek drone that comes with some nice additional accessories (the bundle above). Great value for under $1,000. Solid quadcopter for amateur aerial photographers and videographers who want some high-powered tech to enhance their shots.

Pros: Increased flight time from original Mavic Pro (30 mins). Powerful camera. Portable (folds down to the size of a water bottle). Autonomous flight modes. Sleek design. Handles windy conditions well.
Cons: Good build for the most part, but some parts may break easily during a crash.
This sleek drone comes with a nice 30-minute flight time, a 7 km control distance, and a 3-axis gimbal for smooth shots.
Its camera takes 12MP stills and shoots 4K videos, making it a great option for aerial photographers and videographers who don’t want to shell out too much for the more professional rigs (although it works as a good professional drone as well).
This upgraded version has a longer flight time than its predecessor, and DJI reduced the noise it produces by up to 60% — using new ESCs and propellers.
Overall, the Mavic Pro Platinum is a great all-around drone for the money.
7. Best For Cinematography — Yuneec Typhoon H3
Camera: 20MP / 4K | Flight Time: 25 mins | Range: 2 km | GPS: Yes
Pros: Powerful camera. Solid flight time. Hexacopter (6 blades) makes it a nice, stable flyer. Multiple picture modes (Normal, Vivid, WDR, 10 Bit Log, B&W). Comes with a controller standard with FPV LCD screen.
Cons: Range is shorter than most other drones in this tier, but still long enough for most pilots’ needs.
The Yuneec Typhoon H3 easily made it onto this list of the best drones for sale in 2020 as an incredibly powerful drone for cinematography.
Yuneec has long since been one of the only reliable competitors to DJI, and the H3 did its job in that department.
Boasting a 20 megapixel camera that shoots video in 4K at 60 frames per second, Yuneec gave us a wonderful tool to get cinematic slow motions shots.
The 6-blade hexacopter design Yuneec is known for gives the drone added stability and safety when flying, especially in windy conditions.
Combine this with its 3-axis gimbal, and the H3 is set up beautifully to provide crisp, clean shots.

A single battery gives it 30 minutes of flight time, which is on the higher end of the industry as a whole. And this package comes with two extra batteries to extend your sessions.
The 300 to 500-meter range is a little short for my liking, but it should be more than enough control distance for most pilots.
The quad also folds up to a length of 6.9 inches, making it easy to transport.
All in all, the F11 Pro is solid budget option.
10. Best Cheap Drone — Hubsan X4 (H107C)
Camera: 2MP / 720p | Flight Time: 8 mins | Range: 100 m | GPS: No
